Wild Child’s ‘Expectations’ Album Release Show

Austin’s family sized folk band, Wild Child, released their newest album, Expectations on February 9, 2018. Those sensible opening words above are appropriately offered up by a child in the opening track, “Alex”. Like the 7-piece band’s latest release, children are free from most limitations and social norms. Wild Child’s Expectations is a refreshing collection of the band’s musical ideas free of any hesitation due to societal norms and regulations as to how a record should be constructed. Expectations takes the various ideas the band wanted to explore and somehow simultaneously encompasses the band’s familiar sound adored by fans for the last seven years.

Austin Music Video Festival returns for its third year

The Austin Music Video Festival, now nearing its third annual start date, combined the music, art, food, and technology that everyone loves Austin for into a five day event.  Starting Tuesday, September 12th and ending Saturday, September 16th this festival gives everyone the chance to support local musicians, directors, and actors.  The AMVFest will be hosting screenings of 100 music videos, panels, live performances, mixers, and after parties all week that culminate into an awards show Saturday night.  This year the festival will feature special screenings from legendary director Spike Jonze, Flaming Lips, CHRISTEENE, and Holodeck Records, Walker Lukens, and more.  General admissions tickets are $15 a day or $65 for all five days of screenings, concerts, parties, and awards ceremonies.  AMVFest also offers VIP passes that give you access to complimentary drinks, hotel pool access, expedited lines, and priority seating.  Most importantly, a portion of all ticket sales will be donated to Americares in support of Hurricane Harvey Relief efforts.  Both types of tickets are available here.

Blues on the Green proves to be a great way to begin the Summer

KGSR’s Blues on the Green is the largest and longest running free concert series in Austin. Last Wednesday (May 25) at 8 p.m., clouds of bug spray and smoke mixed in the air above Zilker Park, as people started flooding into the venue to celebrate Blue’s on the Green’s 26th inception since the concert series began years ago.
