Austin receives $10m “mini bond” to preserve local music venues

Although there is a spectacular community surrounding local music and art in Austin, prominent leaders in the collective are typically young and financially frustrated. Despite the progressive ideals that these trailblazers possess, their schemes can not be implemented until they have the city of Austin finically backing their proposals. Simply put, Austin will have to retire it’s title as “Live Music Capital of the World” if we don’t cultivate this place as a home for artists.

SOS Fest releases schedule for Late Knights

The much-anticipated Sound on Sound Fest is fast approaching with festivities starting Nov. 4. To kick off the festival weekend, the Sound On Sound Fest “Late Knights” kick-off parties, or just Knights, will be held at Mohawk, The Sidewinder, Barracuda, Beerland and Empire on Thursday, Nov. 3. Anyone who already has an official Sound On Sound Wristband gets free access to any of the Knights shows and holders of the VIP ‘Treat Thyself’ pass get priority access at each venue.

Austin becomes first city in U.S. to test sound mitigation technology

Being the “Live Music Capital of the World” is a big responsibility, one that Austin does not take lightly. In the recent years, noise complaints throughout the city have spiked, which has caused outdoor and downtown venues to face repercussions that are effecting business. At the same time, downtown residents and visitors are experiencing discomfort with the late night bustle that comes from living near one of these venues. Now, the city of Austin is trying to find harmony between live music with sound mitigation, if there is harmony at all.

Bayonne releases new track and video, US fall tour starts this month

We’ve been following Bayonne’s music career for some time now. And, as expected, he’s only getting bigger. He’s talented at his craft, probably one of the best in the game at this point. Robin Hilton of NPR Music says he “makes live looping look like an endurance sport”.
