On the eve of SXSW in March 2011, Charles Ferraro and Christian Moses opened Hotel Vegas. Brian Tweedy and Jason McNeely later joined the partnership in 2012 and, together the foursome created a unique establishment that attracts a broad spectrum of Austin’s musical talent, as does their sister bar that’s right next door–The Volstead Lounge.
Both venues have a strong pulse on the Austin music scene as Hotel Vegas showcases some of the best of Austin’s local bands seven nights a week. The Volstead Lounge, on the other hand, provides a spot for patrons to hear some of the city’s local DJ talent, while enjoying drinks crafted by the establishment’s respected cocktail program. Even better, the patio frequently hosts diverse arts and crafts pop up events and the exterior of the building showcases some of the city’s best visual artists—like Michael Sieben—who is currently being featured.
The anniversary party will boast four stages of entertainment. The lineup is diverse—Sweet Spirit, Moving Panoramas, ROXY ROCA, Rotten Mangos, Lake Of Fire, Street Dads, Joseph King, Johnny Gouide, Casey McPherson (of Alpha Rev), DJs Orion, King Louie, Manolo Black, Kid Slyce, uLOVE, No Kid$ and Tweedy.
But wait—not only is the event free—there’s free food (while it lasts of course). Food will be provided the Hotel Vegas food trailers Crazy Ricky’s Dawg House and Veracruz All Natural. Classic cocktail specials will also be available all night, but between 6 to 7 p.m. drinks will be free!
Speaking of the pop up markets mentioned earlier, there will be one set up at the patio by East Side Pop Up Vendors with the chance to nab some live screen printing from Fine Southern Gentlemen. If that’s not enough incentive for you inside the venue there will even be a Hotel Vegas poster exhibit.
Don’t miss out. The event opens at 5 p.m. on March 10 and goes till 2 a.m. on March 11. Check here for more info and directions to the venue.
