Austin is known for its music festivals, but the Capitol City is also known for its thriving comedy scene and is home to the Moontower Comedy & Oddity Festival, an annual event that takes place in late April and boasts a bevvy of artists and acts across eight venues.
Taking place April 20-23, the festival hosts 80 acts in total at the Paramount and Stateside Theatres and other venues. Performers include some of comedy’s biggest names like Maria Bamford, Kevin Smith and the infamous Jim Norton.
The early lineup release does not include local comics quite yet, but Moontower is well-know for giving some up-and-coming comics a chance to share the stage with some of the biggest names in comedy. Past years of the festival have been home to big names like Jim Gaffigan and and Patton Oswald as well as local comedy vets Ryan Cownie and Mac Blake . Austin works hard to be kept weird, and Moontower Comedy & Oddity Festival has landed a hand in doing so since 2012.
